Jumilla commemorates two decades of reception of Saharawi children in the summer months (02/07/2018)

Five children of Saharawi origin spend months of summer with host families of Jumilla thanks to the Vacations in Peace program.

Children arrive today to their destinations and will be received in the plenary hall of the City Council next Friday, July 13 at 13.30, as reported today by the councilor of Voluntariano, NGO's and International Cooperation, Lucía Jiménez.

That same day, at 7:00 pm, the inauguration of an exhibition in the Ethnography and Science section of the Jerónimo Molina Museum under the title "20 years of peaceful vacations" is scheduled, with a discussion table in which components of the host families.

In the time they spend here, these children undergo a general medical examination, ophthalmological and oral, they are taught Spanish and taken to the beach and the pool, among many other cultural and leisure activities for them unattainable during the rest of the year in which they live in harsh conditions.

The management of the shelters is carried out by the association Sonrisa Saharahui de Murcia.
