The Community has again requested from the City of Jumilla the approval of the agreement for the improvement of the 'Carretera del Carche' (RM-A15), which joins Jumilla-Pinoso, and the link with the A-33 highway to be able to start up the works.
This agreement is the result of an agreement reached between the two institutions with the businessmen of the area in May of last year.
The agreement includes the economic contribution of public administrations and businessmen and the management of the necessary land involved in the improvement work of the RM-A15 highway.
The general secretary of the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure, Yolanda Muñoz, held another meeting today with the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, in which he recalled that it is "essential condition" that the Consistory formalize the approval of the agreement to develop the improvement of the first 8.9 kilometers of this road, which will allow the width of the platform to be extended to 9 meters.
Muñoz explained that the mayor "postpones" the signing of the agreement by a "possible agreement" with the State that assumes the funding of the part that corresponds to the Consistory.
"This option posed by the mayor would mean a further delay of the action, since there is no official commitment from the Ministry, since it is based on a verbal statement from the Government delegate."
He explained that there have been countless meetings with the City Council to unlock this agreement and start the tender and, "for the good of the general interest, we will continue working for the signing of this agreement."
He recalled that the improvement of this route has its origin in a business demand to improve the safety of neighbors and heavy vehicles related to the winery industry.
