The City Council updates the inventory of agricultural uses in public forests (20/03/2019)

At the municipality of Jumilla belong 33 public utility forests, whose owner is the City of Jumilla.

Most have agricultural parcels within its perimeter that contain uses of different crops, which over the years suffer significant changes and have been updated with the inventory update that has been carried out from the Department of Forestry.

The variations in the crops are due to the change of use of the plot, either because a farmer decides to change what he was cultivating until now, or because the abandonment of the plot happens and with the passage of time he colonizes other species of herbaceous or scrubland.

In the City of Jumilla there is a census of crops where these agricultural plots are registered.

It is essential to digitize the enclosures belonging to the Jumilla mountains and keep updated this pattern of crops in order to know at all times the surface that is in use, the crop that holds and even the grower who is carrying out this use.

To this end, a revision of this crop pattern has been carried out.

The revision consisted in checking each of the SIGPAC sites, including on a cartographic basis which of these sites were within the crop census and, in addition, were still in use, as well as those that were within the crop census and had been abandoned, therefore they should be excluded from the register.

Likewise, this work is useful to know the sites that were being used outside the crop census, which, therefore, should be included in this.
