Jumilla adheres to the request for the Region to declare an area severely affected by a civil protection emergency (19/09/2019)

An extraordinary plenary session has been held today in which it has been approved through a joint motion of the three municipal groups that Jumilla adheres to the institutional declaration of the Regional Assembly and therefore, support for the request to be declared the Region of Murcia by the Council of Ministers, as soon as possible, "area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency".

The Government of the Region of Murcia is urged to quickly assess the damages caused by this "cold drop" and claim as many aid and investments as necessary.

Likewise, a 5-year moratorium (amortization and interest) will be requested from the Government of Spain in the return of loans granted through the Official Credit Institute (ICO) to the municipalities of the Region of Murcia for payment to suppliers, with in order that these amounts can be used to repair the damage suffered and prevent new catastrophes.

In addition, the Government of the Region of Murcia and the Government of Spain will be requested to carry out all the actions that are within their reach to ensure that the European Union is actively involved, allocating funds for all reconstruction, repair and prevention tasks. necessary.

It will show the gratitude of the City Council to professionals and volunteers, Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Red Cross, health services, Firefighters, Environmental Agents, municipal workers (services, gardens, agriculture, etc.) and the company Aguas de Jumilla etc, who have actively collaborated with this City Council in prevention and action, to help in these difficult times, avoiding worse situations.

On the other hand, in this extraordinary plenary session, the resignation of José Gómez Ortega in his position as councilor has been taken.

In the last point of the agenda, the components of the Municipal Demarcation Commission of the Jumilla City Council have been appointed to verify the recovery and improvement work carried out by the National Geographic Institute of the boundary lines that affect this municipality with those of Castilla La Mancha, without this implying alteration of them from the legal point of view.

It will consist of the mayor, Juana Guardiola, and councilors Francisco González, Juan Gil and Juan Antonio Jiménez, as well as the expert Pascual Cahigüela and the secretary of the corporation, Josefa Torres.

PSOE and Grupo Mixto have voted in favor and PP abstained.
