The Department of Environment of the City of Jumilla together with the company Waste Management, Cranes and Containers has launched a series of initiatives, during the months of February and June, to encourage children and the local school community The separation, reduction, reuse and recycling of waste generated at home and in schools.

For this, the characters Cucha and the Selective Patrol have begun to visit the educational centers of the municipality, where they are developing different environmental experiences aimed at children of 5 years of Early Childhood Education, 3rd and 6th of Primary, as well as the rest Of students and their families.

On Wednesdays of each week they move to a center in Jumilla and carry out an activity, giving children the knowledge of aspects such as: their mission and functioning;

The means, materials and infrastructures that they use to carry out the Services of Selective Collection of Urban Solid Waste;

And games and play-environmental experiences of waste reduction, reuse, separation and recycling.

Each week the mobile eco-park will be installed in a center where the entire school community and neighbors of the area will be able to deposit their waste, such as: plastic containers, cans, glass, paper and cardboard;

And other residues such as metal containers, batteries, household oils, lamps and flowers, paint containers, clothing, shoes, toys, CDs, mobiles, radiographs, toners and aerosols.

Likewise, the students of 6 ° will visit the Municipal Ecoparque, to know first hand, its operation and all the secrets of the life cycle of waste.

CEIP San Francisco has been the first destination this week.

Reciçole Competition

On the other hand, in April, May and June, educational centers that wish to participate in the "I Recicole", a competition where the most recyclable educational centers will be awarded.

In addition, a talk has been scheduled to parents and relatives of each center, so that they know each of the municipal selective collection services that are currently in place, and resolve their doubts on this issue.

And in June, the Recycling Festival will take place, as part of the activities commemorating the World Environment Day, along with other initiatives aimed at the general population, associations and groups.

All these are in addition to the other projects that are currently being carried out to promote the differentiated and adequate separation of urban solid waste in the Jumillan citizenship, in the companies and in the commerce of the municipality, such as: the selective collection of paper And carton, and of containers and cans;
