This Thursday the book 'El Castillo de Jumilla: Story of a Sentinel' (21/03/2017)

This Thursday, at 18.00 hours, the book "El Castillo de Jumilla: History of a Sentinel" is presented, written by José Luis Simón García and Emiliano Hernández Carrión.

The event will be held in the room La Bodeguilla Roque Baños Center with the presence of the authors.

The work deals with an integral study of the Castle from various points of view, from archeology, through all the historical periods, to the last restorations carried out in 2010. Unpublished photos about the Castle, both old and present made with Dron.

A new plan has been made for both the Torre del Homenaje and the citadel, and there are interesting new features such as the location of the main access door to the citadel, the location of the fifth tower of the eastern wall or a new tower Large dimensions along the path of the Subidor.

For its elaboration all the articles and news that on the Castle have been published to date have been gathered, since it is the circumstance that is the first monograph that has been written on the Castle of Jumilla.

Also some myths are dismantled, such as the belief that the French had set fire to the Castle, when in fact it was not.

It is a book of 150 pages in color, which has been edited with the help of the Fondeo Leader, and the collaboration of the Department of Culture and the Municipal Museum Jerónimo Molina.

Regarding the authors: José Luis Simón García is professor of the University of Alicante and territorial archaeologist of the province of Alicante.

While Emiliano Hernández Carrión is municipal archaeologist and director of the Municipal Museum Jerónimo Molina de Jumilla.
