The Department of Social Policy launches the Handyman Workshop (17/10/2017)

The Council of Social Policy of the City of Jumilla, through the Accompaniment Program and in collaboration with the Abraham Project Association, has launched the Handyman Workshop for people who are in a process of high vulnerability or social exclusion.

It is an experimental and novel project in the Region of Murcia, adapted to the needs of the municipality and expanding the offer of training workshops that the Abraham Project Association has taught in previous years such as the garment sewing and repair workshop, repair workshop footwear or basic computer shop.

The objective is to teach small repairs and repairs and basic household maintenance tasks, getting to know the skills and knowledge of what we call "a handyman" everyday.

It is also complemented with a few hours for the acquisition of pre-employment skills, with students having the opportunity to work the contents learned in the House of Reception that the City Council has in the locality and that the Social Services Center manages.

"In addition, and collateral, allows them to increase their social networks, support, community membership and feelings of usefulness," said the councilor of the area, Salvi Pérez.

The Workshop starts tomorrow and ends on December 20.

The theoretical part will be held at the El Alpicoz Social Center from 9.30 to 12.30 hours, with a total of 80 hours between theory and practice.
