The Local Police will participate in a school transport control campaign (21/11/2017)

In compliance with the programming of the campaigns and special operations of monitoring and control foreseen by the General Directorate of Traffic for the year 2017, between November 27 and December 1, there will be a new campaign dedicated to the control of school transport in the one that will participate the Local Police of Jumilla.

Inspections will be carried out on vehicles (authorizations and documents, technical conditions and safety elements, belts and restraint systems) and on drivers (driving licenses, driving times and breaks), especially on conventional roads and urban roads.

Since the 2007-2008 school year, all vehicles dedicated to school transportation must meet the requirements set forth in RD 443/2001 of April 27 on safety conditions in school transportation and minors.

It establishes various requirements such as the obligation for minors to be accompanied on the bus by an appropriately qualified person, the maximum age of vehicles intended for this type of passenger, unlimited liability insurance or the obligation to carry a signal of school transport, among others, of singular importance.

90% of accidents that occur during school transport take place at the time of getting in or out of the vehicle, or in the immediate moments and in many cases, are abuses caused by a distraction of the child, the driver of transport school or companions.

The Traffic Association of the Civil Guard during the dates indicated above, will proceed to control the school transport, which will give an idea of the incidence of different factors in this type of transport.

The importance of school transport in urban areas, mainly in certain places where there is a greater concentration of schools, means that the participation of all the town halls in this campaign has an extraordinary relevance, bearing in mind that it is proven that at 50 kilometers / hour, speed maximum allowed in urban roads, the chances of a child surviving without any security measure is practically nil and that, even at a low speed, survival is guaranteed.

The participation of the municipalities, in addition to helping to reduce the number of injured and deceased in traffic accidents, will help to have a more accurate idea of the incidence and its evolution at the national level.
