The Teatro Vico hosts this Sunday's Hypnos Awards ceremony (02/01/2018)

This Sunday at 12:00 noon, the Hypnos Awards 2017 will be held at the Vico Theater, the highest institutional award granted by the Jumilla City Council.

The jury, composed by Francisco Bernal Legidos, Ana López Martínez, Encarna Bernal Román, Silvano García Abellán and Salvador Pérez Sánchez, and chaired by the mayor, Juana Guardiola Ver dú, acting as secretary the head of the Culture Department, Andrés Martínez, decided the prizes in the seven categories established by the bases.

The XXX National Meeting of Brotherhoods has been awarded the Special Mention of the 2017 Hypnos Awards, an event that from September 21 to 24 turned Jumilla into the cofrade capital.

Thousands of visitors contemplated the wealth of Holy Week in Jumilla through an extraordinary procession, unique exhibitions such as Imago Passionis, as well as a large number of cultural activities and exclusive publications.

The Hypnos 2017 Prize for the Defense of Human Values ​​is for the 'It's in our blood' campaign, which motivated the Jumillans to raise even more their already high average of blood donors, which places them in the first regional position.

In just one afternoon, a total of 257 valid donations and 70 people were obtained who, in addition, became marrow donors.

The personal and professional career of Ana María Albert Verdú has made her worthy of being awarded the Equality Prize.

In addition to carrying out the daily work of her farm, she focuses part of her efforts on the struggle for the recognition of work and the rights of rural women.

She is currently a component of the regional executive of the Water and Land Association, as well as responsible for the area of ​​Women and vice president of COAG Jumilla.

The Jumilla Ambassador Award will be collected by Salvador Bernabéu Albert, renowned specialist in the History of America of the CSIC and currently director of the School of Hispanic-American Studies in Seville.

He is the author of several books, articles and conferences on the specialty and has won several awards.

The 2017 Hypnos Award for Business Development is for Burruezo Alimentación, a ju millana company founded 33 years ago by Pedro Burruezo Olivares.

Since then it has not stopped growing in quality, service and size and today has 40 workers, specialists in deep-frozen fish and seafood, ice cream, bread, pastries, meat, vegetables and Iberian products with their own brand.

The Hypnos Award for Dedication to Culture is for Miguel García Guardiola, a person with an intense life dedicated to the teaching and culture of Jumilla.

He has stood out for his active contribution in the field of culture, co-working with as many associations as he has requested.

He was a constituent member of the Federation of Peñas de la Vendimia, is responsible for staging the representation of El Prendimiento and is a specialist in Don Quixote.

The 2017 Hypnos Prize for Sports Work is for the San Antón Mountain Bike, a race that has completed its 25 editions in 2017, becoming one of the oldest tests in Spain and a benchmark for athletes in the area in its modality.

Admission to the event is free and then a meal will be held in the Half Moon Halls with a menu of 25 euros for adults and 15 euros for children.

Tickets can be collected at the City Hall of Jumilla until Friday at 14.30.
