The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, attended last night the award ceremony of the XXIV Jumilla Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Quality Contest, "a brand that is synonymous with quality and prestige and that takes the name of the Region of Murcia to any corner of the world, "he said.
The Jumilla PDO covers 25,000 hectares of vineyards in the Region of Murcia and also in Albacete.
That is why Lopez Miras stressed that it is "an example of how when you add effort and commitment for a common goal, you can reach the top".
In this sense, he put in value that the sales to the outside of the sector have increased 7 percent in the last campaign and that the annual production exceeds 30 million bottles.
The regional government this year allocates 300,000 euros to the Regulatory Councils of the different appellations of origin and protected geographical indications of the Region.
