García Carrión continues its campaign juices for the Food Bank] | The Minister of Agriculture, Adela Martinez-Cache and the Mayor of Jumilla, Juan Guardiola, yesterday visited the plant in Jumilla of this company |

The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache and the Mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola Verdú, yesterday visited the plant in Jumilla company J. García Carrión, who participates with other Murcian firms in the production of juices which they are distributed to the Food Bank for free.

2,060 tons of peaches, nectarines withdrawn from the market Paraguayans have been transformed so far juice in the Murcia region for this purpose.

It is an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment in which seven companies are participating in the Region, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment.

The Ministry has opened a quota of 20,000 tons of these fruits for Spain with the aim of regulating the market for these products to avoid falling prices and allocate the surplus to charity.

The minister recalled that it is the second year that this campaign is carried out and in 2014 became the region 2,000 tons of fruit, which became 150,000 liters of juice.

Thanks to this activity, last year 990,000 liters of juice in Spain that were distributed to food banks across the country were transformed.

For his part, Mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola was pleased and proud that a company of your city take part in these social projects.

Councillor and mayor were accompanied by the CEO of Productions and Agricultural Markets, Fulgencio Pérez;

the director general of Persons with Disabilities of IMAS, Ana Guijarro;

Agriculture Councilman of the City of Jumilla, Juan Gil;

President of the Food Bank of the Region of Murcia, Alfonso Torres;

President of the Food Bank of Segura, Bonifacio Fernandez;

Industrial director García Carrión, José María Gómez;

Planning director of the company, Pascual Guardiola and members of the municipal corporation.

This measure is agreed with the Ministry of Agriculture juice industry, the horticultural sector and regions.

So that fruit producers retire, under the Community regulation, and lead to industries with which they deal, for processing into juice and nectar.

A part of the delivered fruit is used as payment in kind for the processing costs.

Subsequently, the juice packaging takes the Spanish Food Bank Federation (FESBAL) in the region is delivered to the Food Bank of Murcia and Segura, which distributed it among the organizations with which they work.

The Ministry launched this initiative as an alternative outlet to the deterioration of the prices of these fruits registered in early July and in order to prevent further falls.

The 20,000 tonnes set for Spain not harm the juice market.

Amounts withdrawn by producers will be financed by charges to the operational programs of producer organizations.

Moreover, within the exceptional measures adopted in connection with the extension of the Russian veto it is contemplated that producers can also make use of the quota of 20,000 tons of stone fruit for processing into juice.

This initiative is scheduled to end on September 30 or until the authorized quota is completed.
