Agriculture shows the production of 70 varieties of cherry tree in an experimental farm of Jumilla (27/05/2010)

The Director General of Operations and Training Modernization of Agricultural, Ángel García Lidón, along with director Murciano Research Institute for Agriculture and Food (IMID), Adrian Martinez, showed today to interested farmers producing 70 varieties of cherry, as a result R & D project on the fruit that has been carried out at the experimental farm 'La Maestra' Integrated Training Center and Agricultural Experiences (CIFE) in Jumilla.

The researcher Diego Frutos, director of the R & D project, said the test patterns and the collection of varieties grown in drip irrigation and fertigation, with the aim of obtaining a profitable crop with maximum water saving , and production of high quality fruit trade.

The trees are trained in multiple arm glass to reduce its size and facilitate harvesting.

The results of these trials, Garcia Lidón, "will answer the questions that always made farmers: what to plant, where to plant and cultivate."

He also stressed that "the variety of plant material behavior tested in the Altiplano can be extrapolated to areas of North West River Mula and Vega Alta del Segura, of great importance in the production of stone fruit in our region."
