Unemployment in Jumilla decreases in April in 149 people (08/05/2018)

The month of April was closed in Jumilla with 149 fewer unemployed, placing the total figure at 2,074 people, 27 less than in the same month last year.

This variation is divided by sex in 61 men less unemployed and a decrease of 88 women.

By economic sectors, it is still the service sector that brings together the largest number of unemployed, with a small increase to 50.10% of the total, and is where the bulk of female unemployment is concentrated.

Agriculture remains in the vicinity of 20%, specifically 20.44%, the industry sector reaches 9.50% of the total of unemployed, and 8.63% of the unemployed in the construction sector, being 11.33% the sector without activity.

Therefore, unemployment in agriculture decreases to the detriment of services and remains in other sectors of activity.

By age, the figures are still similar, with youth unemployment remaining at the same level as other months, standing at 11.14% of the total.

Unemployment in the group between the ages of 25 and 44 represents 40.89%, and the group that is older than 45 years with 47.97% remains the same.

This group represents almost half of all local unemployment with a high incidence of female unemployment.

The Councilor for Economy and Employment, Juan Gil, said that "the City of Jumilla continues to put its grain of sand to help the figures are improving, through our job boards and workshops for employment and training."

He also added that "we are still far from the objectives that we can have as a municipality, since we continue to have high figures, especially in women".
