The mayor transfers to the CHS her concern about the level of the aquifers in Jumilla (07/11/2018)

The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, has transferred to the President of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, Mario Urrea, his concern for the level of aquifers in the municipality, "the only contribution of water in our municipality, which is one of the few It is connected neither to transfer, desalination or to Canales del Taibilla, "he stressed.

The European Water Framework Directive establishes that in 2027 overexploited aquifers with low water quality may even be closed, "this situation is very worrying for Jumilla, so we have to look for viable alternatives that provide water by other means. and the aquifers are recovered ", said Juana Guardiola.

The president has shared with the mayor his concern and has indicated that he is aware that this area needs a solution at once, and that for him is a real priority, work to find it.

"He knows our problem and is in the line of finding solutions," says the highest local authority.

On the other hand, the mayor of Jumilla has sent the need for technical personnel from the CHS to move to Jumilla to check on the state of the wall of the Rambla del Judio, leaving Jumilla, since in recent times it has suffered landslides and it has had to protect the area with a fence and a temporary signaling, because of its danger.

"It is necessary to repair as soon as possible," he said.

He has also personally transmitted, although he did it before in writing and on different occasions, the state of lack of cleanliness for years, of the channel of this same ravine, on which Mario Urrea has assured that the cleaning will be carried out shortly, work that is being started throughout the Region due to the lack of cleanliness of many channels that he found when he took office.

Likewise, he has requested interest in the CHS to proceed with the recovery and cleaning of both the Charco de la Peña wetland in the hamlet of La Raja, and the dam of Román, in this hamlet, "since it is of spaces of high historical and environmental interest ".
