The City Council requests a grant to implement the Local Pact of Participatory Development (16/07/2019)

The City Council of Jumilla will request a grant to finance a Local Pact for Participatory Development within the framework of the Regional Operational Program of the European Social Fund.

The Governing Board has approved the report of the project, whose objective is to improve the employment, poverty and exclusion figures, as well as to promote citizen participation and associationism in the districts and in the Barrio de Santiago.

"These are areas of intervention that have never been worked on together," said the councilor for Social Policy, José Luis Monreal.

This program aims to mitigate the occurrence of segregation between the indigenous and migrant population, coordinating and boosting the existing resources that, for lack of a community vision, are being wasted.

Monreal added that: "It consists of looking for new ways to approach a complex situation such as the migration phenomenon in the richest and most complete way possible, generating spaces for meeting and coexistence through three professionals hired for the plan (social worker, educator and interpreter), as well as two municipal workers, who will coordinate a local action group. "

This group will be formed by public authorities, companies, citizen organizations and representatives of the third sector.

For its implementation is going to request a grant of 432,845.80 euros, to which the City would join 41,586.39 euros and a commitment of dedication of personnel valued at 128,134 euros.

The project would last for three years, from October 2019 to September 2022.
