The Councilor for Animal Welfare, Pilar Martínez, accompanied by the members of the board of the Association 4 Patas Jumilla, Irene Santos and María José Hernández, today presented the activities scheduled for the X anniversary of the opening of the Municipal Animal Shelter and that will be held from November 29 to December 1.
On Friday 29 different talks will be held from 7.30 pm in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music.
The first will be taught by the head of the Department of Environment of the City of Jumilla, Victoria Martínez, with the title "10 years of Municipal Housing: Technical Foundations".
Next, the president of the 4 Paws Jumilla Association, Irene Santos, will offer "10 years of 'Zero Sacrifice' in Jumilla: The role of volunteering."
Finally, we will inform you about how the new autonomous law of Murcia protects animals, by Raquel López, lawyer and founder of DeAnimals, the only law firm specializing in Animal Law in the Region of Murcia.
On Saturday 30, an activity called ARTivismo has been prepared, with Luiso García, "artivist", illustrator, designer, 3D sculptor and art teacher.
It will be at 11.00 in the Auditorium and from 12.30 in the Plaza de la Alcoholera with live works and participation of attendees.
On Sunday morning there will be children's workshops and storytelling in the House of Culture, from 11.00 hours.
In the afternoon, (5 pm to 7 pm) dog rides have been organized at the Municipal Animal Shelter.
Jumilla, example at regional level
Jumilla is an example in the Region of Murcia in the application of the 'zero sacrifice' law that establishes the prohibition of the slaughter of companion animals and only allows euthanasia for humanitarian, public health, animal health or safety reasons.
In the municipality it is being fulfilled and, in addition, for a decade, long before it was approved last 2017. The City Council contributes this 2019 to the Association 4 Legs 43,000 euros through a collaboration agreement that is renewed annually .
