CRDOP Jumilla launches the portal to offer its wines throughout Spain (07/05/2020)

The Jumilla PDO continues to increase its presence in international markets, while continuing to bet on claiming its distinction to surprise palates in Spain.

Despite being a historical PDO, founded in 1966, there are still many consumers who do not know the great variety of its wines and wineries, and the peculiarity of the queen variety of this area, the Monastrell grape. Monastrell means Jumilla, and Jumilla is Monastrell.

With the climatic characteristics, soils, and high altitude of this territory, the cultivation of Monastrell is key for Jumilla wines to achieve balance, acidity and freshness, as well as complexity, body and structure. Taking advantage of the fact that consumers in Spain are prepared to discover the different elaborations of this PDO, many wineries bet on online sales as a solution to the absence of distributors to introduce new brands in their commercial networks, or simply, bet on DOP Jumilla wines. The vocation of online sales is to go where there is an interested consumer, in a competitive and saturated market where not everyone finds a distributor that reaches all the channels to which the sale of the Jumilla PDO wines is directed. Since the beginning of the quarantine, many have been the wineries that have launched direct promotions from their online stores, and from the Regulatory Council following the example of many other Regulatory Councils, an information page is enabled so that the consumer can buy It came from the Dop Jumilla winery. This landing is a powerful tool for the interested consumer to know the offer of all the wineries that belong to the Jumilla PDO. Currently, in the Jumilla PDO, there are some 16 online winery stores.

Many of them had already seen the need to launch their online sales channels, and others are preparing their websites for the coming months, in light of this situation. With or without an online store, practically all the warehouses of the Jumilla PDO offer direct shipping of wines from the winery to the consumer in a simple way by telephone, WhatsApp or Email, or they provide information on their requests to their local distributors.

These wineries have also been included in the list provided by the Regulatory Council through the landing page.
