The City Council proposes the use of the bicycle during the de-escalation of the health alert (14/05/2020)

| The Department of the Environment launches the campaign "Go down the curve by bike", which joins the expansion of spaces in the municipality that allow its use in the time slot from 20 to 23 hours | The Department of the Environment has launched a campaign with the slogan 'Go down the curve by bike' to enhance the use of the bicycle during the de-escalation phases of the health alert.

"Its use allows users to maintain a safe distance, also avoiding the massive use of private cars, as recommended by the Government of Spain," said the councilman for the area, Juan Gil. With the aim of facilitating the use of the bicycle and physical activity outdoors, avoiding social contact and the risk of contagion as far as possible, since last week and in the strip from 20 to 23 hours, the City of Jumilla closed Cánovas del Castillo street, from the Teatro Vico to Roque Martínez, as well as the direction of traffic in which the bike path of Avenida de la Libertad is located.

Likewise, it is proposed to travel by bicycle in the municipality at other times to go to work or make arrangements. "The expectations of the way out of the health crisis offer an opportunity to promote a change in mobility patterns in urban centers that makes possible cleaner air and better living conditions for citizens," added Juan Gil.
