IU-greens on the request to include the Mountain Goat as a permitted species in the management hunt in Jumilla (15/05/2020)

From IU Verdes do not share the decision of the City Council to request the CARM to include the mountain goat as a permitted species in the management hunt of Jumilla. From IU Verdes believe that these types of requests do not face true definitive or long-term solutions.

Of course, it would be more convenient to study sensitive farms and areas, promote solutions such as lawful hunting fences, in addition to looking for regular control methods and not going on impulses according to the years, the areas and the abundance of any species. As a reason, the damage that this species is causing to agriculture is exposed, but without quantifying or locating it, it would be more convenient to know these data before making decisions.

There are some groups of these animals in the area and it would be necessary to know where and the volume of problems they cause to assess whether individuals should be compensated. The damage that is being caused to road infrastructures, which can only be roads, highways, etc., is also cited and it has not been valued or reported on time that these damages are really important, at least, they have not been mentioned in any previous occasion and this species has been present for years in the region.
