The Department of Equality presents the campaign ´I am not anonymous´ (01/09/2020)

| It is launched to make known local artists, all of them young women, and their works linked to the world of plastic and visual arts, "historically silenced" | The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, and the Councilor for Equality, Lola Gómez, have presented this morning the campaign 'I am not anonymous', which is launched with the aim of "encouraging participation and making local artists known, all of them young women, and their works linked to the world of plastic and visual arts ", indicated the mayor.

The area technician, Paqui Ruiz, as well as Nadia Ajarour, who has been working to shape the campaign through her practices as a promoter of equality, were present at the presentation.

The campaign is based on the Jumilla City Council Equal Opportunities Plan for 2020. It consists of the dissemination through the social networks of the City Council of a series of videos in which five Jumillan artists between 18 and 25 years old show their works and comment on them in just one minute, as explained by the area councilor.

"It is about Cristina Martínez, Julia Carrión, Laura Morales, María Romero and Inés Iacobelli, whom we thank.

But we do not want it to be only them, so we invite more Jumilla artists to publish their own videos with the hashtag # NoSoyAnónima ". Nadia Ajarour and Paqui Ruiz have detailed how the idea of ??launching this campaign arose, whose slogan "I am not anonymous" is based on centuries of history of women as creators.

"Historically, women have been silenced and made invisible to the point of having to sell their works under pseudonyms or the word 'anonymous'.

It may seem that this has already been left behind but the reality is that, despite the fact that 65, 5% of the graduate students in art-related careers are women, only 23% of the individual exhibitions.

Today they no longer want to be anonymous and we do not want them to be, either, we want their names, faces and works to be known ", they have indicated.
