Jumilla will once again make dyslexia visible by lighting the Town Hall and the Plaza del Camionero in red (05/10/2020)

| This is an international initiative on the occasion of the European Day that is celebrated on October 8 | For the second consecutive year, Jumilla will make dyslexia more visible by lighting up in red during the night of Thursday, October 8, the façade of the Town Hall and the fountain in the Plaza del Camionero Juan Soriano.

It is about commemorating the European Day of Dyslexia, a learning disability that affects approximately 10% of the world's population and that most people are not even aware of the reason for their difficulties in instrumental skills. It is an international initiative that was carried out last year for the first time in Spain and that in Jumilla is part of the ADIX Association as a component of the Dyslexia Platform.

Therefore, again this year in different cities public spaces are going to be illuminated with the same objective: to demand greater visibility for people affected by dyslexia and that the right to equity in education of all children and young people in the country be fulfilled.

In addition, from Adix Jumilla, they encourage wearing red during this October 8 as another action to increase visibility. Dyslexia is a Specific Learning Difficulty (DEA) of neurobiological origin, characterized by the presence of difficulties in precision and fluency in the recognition of words (written) and by a deficit in decoding (reading) and spelling skills.

These difficulties are the consequence of a deficit in the phonological component of language and appear unexpectedly since other cognitive abilities develop normally and reading instruction is adequate.
