[The local government takes stock of a 2020 marked by the pandemic (29/12/2020)

| It has responded as the situation requires, keeping the activity as much as possible and adopting different measures that are allowing Jumilla to overcome in the best way possible health situation | With the end of the year, the Government of the Jumilla City Council has taken stock of it, describing this 2020 as an unexpected and complicated year, marked by the pandemic situation that has been experienced worldwide since last March.

"However, we have responded as the situation requires, keeping the activity as much as possible and adopting different measures that are allowing Jumilla to overcome the health situation in the best possible way, putting first of all who have needed it, "said the mayor, Juana Guardiola.

Just a few days ago, after completing the process in which an item of 400,000 euros was made available, 189 subsidies for commerce, restoration, hospitality and other activities were approved that had to be closed by the State of Alarm, which range between 500 and 1,900 euros, granting a total of 136,000 euros.

With the same objective of helping one of the most affected sectors, the rates for occupancy of the public street with terraces were suspended for the years 2020 and 2021 and they were allowed to expand the space of the themselves.

In addition, the 'Consume Jumilla' campaign was launched, as well as different actions to promote local commerce at Christmas.

The municipality's tourist signage has been renewed, new digital material has been produced and the regulations of the Local Tourism Council have been approved.

In Sports, with the acquisition of the jump, the provision of equipment to the athletics track has been completed and the rehabilitation project of the Bernardo Gonz lez Municipal Velodrome has been approved.

In June, the Municipal Budget approved at the beginning of the year was modified, with the intention of responding to the pandemic situation.

Jumilla also closes the year with the 2021 accounts approved, which will come into effect on January 1, and for the third consecutive year without debt.

"A tight budget, which prioritizes social spending to continue serving those who need it most and which maintains support for the entire associative fabric and contains open COVID items", highlighted Juana Guardiola.

During 2020, the Jumilla City Council has launched different works in the municipality that involve an investment that exceeds 2.5 million euros.

"Although the current priority is to overcome covid19, we are moving forward and working in all areas of the City Council with the aim of boosting the economy of the municipality," explains the mayor.

In July, the rehabilitation works began on the Casa de la Calle del Rico as the House of Music and Other Arts, where 903,000 euros will be invested, with 70% subsidized by the Government of Spain through 1.5% Cultural.

The museum project of the Wine Interpretation Center has also been carried out, which will equip the building, amounting to 395,000 euros.

Since November, the infrastructure renovation works on Avenida de la Asunci n, one of the main entrance and exit arteries to the city, have been underway, with an investment of 440,000 euros.

From the Department of Agriculture and through its own machinery it has continued during these twelve months with the work on a daily basis to maintain the extensive network of roads in the municipal area, for which a new compactor roller was acquired .

Important technological advance The start-up of the electronic headquarters on January 1 has allowed that the administrative activity in the City Council has not stopped at any time.

Added to this this month was the implementation of the necessary technology that allows citizens to electronically pay taxes electronically through a bank collaboration contract.

In this way, it is possible to continue advancing so that citizens can carry out the greatest number of procedures possible with the local administration from home.

In addition, 14 new free Wi-Fi points have been installed for citizens through the Wifi4eu Plan.

Once again, it has opted for the public, continuing with the hiring through the job boards in force and with the call for 43 vacancies, including cleaning staff, janitor, driver, driver, equality agent, administrative, mechanic, responsible for cleaning, as well as 11 agents of the Local Police, a body that has been equipped with three new vehicles, one of them special for the Canine Unit.

Likewise, the Department of Services has continued with the renovation process of its mobile park with a truck, a lifting platform, a forklift, a sweeper and an electric bicycle with an investment n of 175,000 euros between acquisitions and renting.

In conclusion, the first local authority has highlighted that "Jumilla continues to have a government that acts in all corners of the municipality, works for everyone and treats its citizens equally.
