Agriculture spends more than 2 million euros to the modernization of irrigation of the Community of Irrigators of Miraflores (25/10/2016)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment has in the works bidding process for energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions in the Community of Irrigators of Miraflores municipality of Jumilla.

The Minister Adela Martinez-Cacho, together with the CEO Water, Andres Martinez, met today with representatives of the community to explain the details of the project in which 2 million euros will be invested.

The performances, which begin in early 2017, focus on the installation of a photovoltaic plant to power a new pump, which will drive a maximum flow of 360 m3 / h from the reservoir to the treatment plant Jumilla, at a height of 150 meters This will allow for the hours of use of the photovoltaic pumping more than 1.2 hm3 of water per year to regulators existing irrigation reservoirs.

out will also bring self-control system modernization of existing equipment and for monitoring of all software installations, optimizing the exploitation and utilization of resources;

Improvements in hydraulic installations will be performed, with floating shots, automatic filling and protective elements in reservoirs, installation of electromagnetic flowmeters and different extensions, junctions and valves in existing irrigation network.

Intelligent Irrigation Plan

This action is part of the 'Intelligent Irrigation Plan of the Region of Murcia.

Horizon 2023 ', which aims to improve the efficiency of irrigation and water conservation, reduce water losses in transmission and distribution, improve energy efficiency of irrigation infrastructure, increase capacity flow regulation and storage , seize the treated urban wastewater, incorporating new technologies and improve the environment.

It will also allow to act on an area of approximately 6,500 hectares, will enable savings of about 120,000 cubic meters of annual water losses with improved pipeline and transport infrastructure.

It will also enable the effective saving of about 450,000 cubic meters of annual water losses by eliminating evaporation in reservoirs and ponds, as well as the direct use of about 11 cubic hectometres of reclaimed water, the generation of 1,600 MWh / year of energy from renewable sources and reducing 300 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
