IU-Verdes proposes measures against school harassment (21/11/2016)

They say that the Region of Murcia, along with Andalusia, is the Autonomous Community that more school bullying suffers, according to the report "Yo a esa no juego", prepared by Save The Children.

Murcia also appears among the regions with the highest incidence of cyberbullying.

They provide data as dramatic as that 11% of the students of Murcia acknowledge having been the victim of insults or attacks on an occasional basis, a percentage higher by almost 3 points to the national average.

Among the proposals are the application in schools of the National Plan of Preventive Character, prepared by the Spanish Association for Prevention of School Harassment.

It is also proposed to carry out continuous training of teachers, in order to be able to detect more and better violent behaviors, in addition to allowing adequate prevention treatment.

These measures depend on the Ministry of Education, so you are requested to start them.

Also worthy of note are the creation of a Local Plan Against School Harassment complementary to the regional one.

This Plan would have the purpose of organizing several prevention campaigns during the next school year, as well as providing the educational centers with the necessary measures for training in gender equality, affective-sexual diversity, machismo, xenophobia, homophobia or racism .

Another of the measures proposed by IU-Greens for discussion at the next Ordinary Plenary in November is the creation of a specialized telephone counseling service, also including a virtual mailbox where harassment situations can be reported.

From Izquierda Unida-Verdes they believe that establishing protocols of local action between all the departments that can work against bullying, would improve and complement the work of the regional administration, giving priority to the protection of the victim and carrying out follow-up and psychological help to the Children, their family and the teachers involved.

They conclude hoping that this set of measures can be approved in the Municipal Plenary, so that the motion against bullying can start the next school year and effective policies against one of the main problems of the education system be implemented as soon as possible current.
