IU-Verdes denounces breach of replacement of felled trees (19/01/2017)

IU-Verdes denounces the non-compliance of the Municipal Ordinance of green areas and urban trees.

They indicate that this legislation, in force since the year 2012, establishes a protocol of replanting of trees in urban and periurban areas that at the moment is being completely ignored.

After the last cases of tree cuttings in the locality, such as the trees of the Plaza Manuel Azaña, the pine of Alicante Street, the eucalyptus that was in front of the Public School Our Lady of the Assumption and others that in recent times We have seen disappear, United Left-Greens demands compliance with the ordinance to replace these losses.

They express their concern at the progressive deterioration of the green and wooded areas and express their intention to continue working on this issue, as they already did with the motion on the conservation of the monumental trees of Jumilla.

They believe that this rule that replaces trees pruned by others is easily realizable, and will watch to be fulfilled.

They think that if more and more planned and planned to carry out maintenance and monitoring of the trees, many of these losses would be avoidable.

They state that in this ordinance, it is established that any logging that has as a consequence the demolition of urban ornamental trees must contemplate a restitution of the affected woodland, taking into account environmental, socio-cultural and economic criteria.

They emphasize that in the same document it is advised that when it is not technically viable the restitution in the place of the intervention, it is carried out in the nearest place possible, taking into account the environment closest to the zone.

With regard to species valid for restitution, the Parks and Gardens Service is in charge of defining them, and in economic terms must comply with the provisions of the Granada Standard "Valuation of ornamental trees and shrubs".

From IU-Greens make these data public, and urge the Department responsible to solve the situation, because of ignorance of the norms that govern our municipality or negligence, has not taken into account this procedure that was approved 6 years ago .

They hope that the Government Team will take action quickly, and reiterate that they thoroughly check the actions taken in this regard.
