The Virgen de la Esperanza College, winner of the Ecovidrio recycling contest (24/05/2017)

The Virgen de la Esperanza Special Education College has been the winner of the Ecovidrio Super Reciclers Contest, in which the Primary students of the locality of nine schools participated in the months of March and April.

The facilities of the school itself hosted the ceremony yesterday, which was attended by the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, Councilor for the Environment, Juan Gil, the manager of the area of ​​Levante of Ecovidrio , Roberto Fuentes and the managing director of Aspajunide, Juan Valero.

The Virgin College of Hope has completed the contest with 276.19 kilos of recycled glass per student.

The prize for the winning school consists of a check for 1,500 euros to be used for any need that has a direct impact on schoolchildren.

On the other hand, there are three schools that received a personalized miniglú to be the ones that have received the most votes through the web www.superrecicladores.com.

These are the CC Santa Ana, CEIP Prince Felipe and CEIP Miguel Hernández.

Among all the voters have been drawn two more minicontenedores that have corresponded to Lucas Rodríguez and Matilde Gálvez.

During the campaign, the students have received several talks with the aim of publicizing the importance of recycling glass containers, showing the environmental benefits involved, creating the habit of recycling glass containers and teaching the students what is going on Green container and what not.

Likewise, it has been possible to improve the recycling figures in the locality.

The mayor, Juana Guardiola, congratulated the winning school, as well as all the participants and encouraged the little ones to "always recycle and not only when there are competitions." For his part, Juan Valero stressed that: "I wish tomorrow Stop being a contest because recycling is something natural ".

General Results

During the duration of the competition, 57,300 kg have been recovered in Jumilla.

Of glass containers, of which 5,800 kg.

(Slightly more than 10%) have left the Virgin College of Hope.

According to the latest official data from 2016, Jumillans recycled a total of 402,810 kilograms of glass containers, which means that each neighbor recycled an average of 15.9 kilograms of this material, reaching almost the national average.
