PP: "The plenary session approves with the favorable vote of the PSOE and the abstention of IU, our motion in defense to the National Police and the Civil Guard" (31/10/2017)

Last night the ordinary plenary session corresponding to the month of October was celebrated in which the motion presented by the Municipal Group of the PP in defense to the State Security Forces and Forces was debated.

The motion was approved by PP and PSOE and the abstention of the two IU councilors present.

The motion argued the enormous climate of hostility and the numerous attacks suffered by members of the National Police and the Civil Guard for the simple fact of carrying out their work and defending the rule of law.

During these days, all citizens have been able to see how the protesters have insulted and even assaulted them, how they have destroyed their vehicles, how they have been surrounded for hours to block their exits, how they have informed through the Generalitat's media their movements within the territory of the Catalan Autonomous Community in order to expose them and point them out.

Facts that have motivated the Prosecutor's Office of the National High Court to file a complaint for sedition on the grounds that they would be constitutive of this and other crimes.

The motion also urged the institutions to use, with determination and firmness, as well as proportionality and opportunity, all the mechanisms that, in defense of the sovereignty of the Spanish people and the general interest of Spain, are attributed to the Constitution and Laws, as well as to act, with the tools of the Rule of Law, against the initiatives that pretend, from the illegality and against the democratic will of the whole of the Spanish people, to violate our constitutional framework and the unity of Spain.

The Municipal Group Spokesperson, Alicia Abellán Martínez, defended the motion based on the need for the City Council, "the highest municipal representation body, show their full respect and support to the National Police and the Civil Guard", as well as recognize that the measures adopted by the Government of Spain, with the support of PSOE and Citizens, aimed at restoring the legality infringed by those who ran the Autonomous Community of Catalonia until just a few days ago ".

The motion also agreed to urge the Government to equalize salaries of all the State Security Forces and Corps, along the lines followed by the Government of the nation who have already advanced, which will become a reality in next year's Budget.

The Popular Spokesperson, on behalf of the Municipal Group of the PP, thanked once again the work that throughout the year, during all the years, the members of the Civil Guard Barracks of Jumilla have been performing, recognizing their professionalism and vocation of public service, to guarantee the normal coexistence and the security of the citizens.
