Signed the assignment to the Waste Consortium of the Jumilla Transfer Plant (01/02/2018)

The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, has signed the transfer of the Urban Waste Transfer Station of Jumilla to the Solid Waste Consortium of the Region of Murcia.

From this moment, both the compaction of the waste and the transport thereof to the Waste Treatment Plant located in Ulea corresponds to the Consortium.

With this, the City will save a total of 6,000 euros per month, which was what it cost to transport the garbage every day to the nearest treatment plant, located in Ulea.

The trash collected from the urban solid waste containers located in the municipality will be unloaded in the Transfer Station located in the Paraje del Morrón (former Garbage Treatment Plant).

Once there, the waste is deposited in a hopper, which feeds a self-compressor that decreases the volume of waste inside the container until it is completely filled for later transfer to Ulea treatment facilities.

In this way, the waste is controlled in containers until it is moved, avoiding the possibility of leachates, odors and the fact that some low-weight residues are carried away by the wind.

The Councilor for the Environment, Juan Gil, has pointed out that "besides the economic savings that this transfer entails, it is an improvement in the waste management of the municipality and therefore an environmental benefit".
