This Wednesday, Juan Brito Martín died in Lanzarote, an entire cultural personality, Favorite Son of the island and Gold Medal of the Canary Islands, among many other recognitions throughout his 98 years of life.
His relationship with Jumilla goes back to 1939, when after the Civil War he was sent to Jumilla and was welcomed by a family of shepherds in the most humble area of ​​the town.
He had such good memories that he never forgot them or Jumilla and 77 years later, specifically in October 2016, he wanted to return, now accompanied by five of his children, to be reunited with the family that once welcomed him.
The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, the Municipal Corporation, and the Martínez Lozano family, received them at City Hall.
And in the multipurpose room of the Municipal Library, Juan Brito, he shared his memories of the time in which he lived among us, and that have accompanied him in his life.
