The third phase of the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers ends (26/03/2018)

Today the work of the third phase of the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers that the Department of Social Policy of the City of Jumilla launched.

On this occasion it has acted in 17 different points of the city.

We have adapted the pedestrian fords of Baron del Solar Street (number 1), Avenida de Levante (Mercado de Abastos area), Murcia Avenue (Corners Portillo de la Glorieta, Progreso, Libertad Crossing, Arsenal and Plaza Marín Padilla), avenue de la Libertad (corner of Avenida de la Asunción), Reyes Católicos (between Libertad Crossing and Joaquín Turina) and Calvario street (crosses with streets Cabecico, Amargura, Martín Guardiola, Pósito, Cura Abellán, Canónigo Lozano and Avenida de Yecla).

The cost of these works has been 29,947.50 euros.

In addition, of this amount, with charge to the 2017 Budget, another 55,000 euros have been invested in the elimination of barriers, for adapted children's games, accessibility of the Plaza de Gloria Fuertes, adaptation of public toilets, entrance sidewalk to the Casa de la Culture and cranes for the Municipal Pools.

"Outside these games, we have also acted with staff from the Department of Works and Urban Planning in the accessibility of around a hundred sidewalks in several streets of the Barrio de San Juan and the center of the urban area," pointed the councilor of the area, Francisco González.

More than 150,000 euros in accessibility in three years

In 2016, 54,500 euros were invested in the second phase of the plan, which resulted in the improvement of accessibility in 27 old sidewalks by means of reduced fords in pedestrian crossings and corners, as well as in five public buildings.

In the first phase, at the end of 2015, the barriers of another 19 pedestrian crossings were eliminated with an investment of 15,000 euros.

The mayor, Juana Guardiola, added that: "For the election of the different actions, the opinion of the Amfiju and Aspajunide associations, present in the Municipal Commission for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers, is taken into account."
