A new tourist trail will be built that will connect the Cantarerías street with the Subidor to the Castle (12/04/2018)

The City of Jumilla is carrying out cleaning and debris removal work in the First District, in the adjoining areas of Cantarerías, Acerica and Subidor al Castillo, which will conclude with the construction of a new tourist trail.

The works are being carried out by hand, since these are very difficult places for access to machinery and are being carried out by four of the long-term unemployed workers recently hired by the City Council through the Local Public Employment Program.

All sick paleras are being removed, as well as the bushes that populate this area of the Castillo hillside.

In a first phase the areas of better access have been cleaned up and now the most difficult places have started with the orography of the land.

Next, it is foreseen that several abandoned cave houses will be covered and finally a new trail will be built with the same characteristics as the Subidor.

It will be, therefore, made of concrete with a rope railing and will start from Cantarerías street until it connects with the Subidor to the Castle in one of its curves.

It will also have a rest area with table and benches.

"It will be a new option to access the Castle from near the cemetery for the enjoyment of hikers and tourists," said the Councilor for Works and Urban Planning, Francisco González.
