The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, explained at a press conference the reasons why for the maintenance of municipal gardens has resorted to contracts: "It is absolutely necessary, since we do not have enough staff in the staff of the City nor possibility of creation of new squares of gardeners ".
The new award has important improvements compared to the previous one.
It will go from 10 to 16 workers, who will give coverage to 91,395 square meters of green areas, while before it was 57,000 square meters.
It assumes the care of practically all the gardens of the urban area, including the flowerpots, being the maintenance of the green zones of the districts, polygons, avenue of the Freedom and Charco del Zorro in charge of the municipal gardeners.
This new contract will eliminate the use of blowers due to its high noise.
In the current legislature, a total of 14 landscaped areas have been restored: Acerica, San Antón, Juan Paco Baeza, Gloria Fuertes, Santiago, Ronda Poniente, Cipreses, Cañada del Trigo, Wine Museum, Parquesol, roundabouts and avenues of Avenida de Yecla , medium painter Antonio Mañas, Manuel Azaña and San Juan.
All this means, since mid-2015, more than 30,000 square meters of renovated green areas, which will join another 46,000 once the reform projects of the Garden of the Arsenal, Liberty Avenue and the Botanical Garden of The Estacada.
"We have shown our commitment to public management, among other things, with the garbage collection service and the 17 work exchanges that are underway, but in the case of gardens there is no other way than outsourcing," concludes Juana Guardiola.
