The Association of Naturalists STIPA holds a stocking and a nest box workshop (11/01/2011)

There are various activities being carried out in recent days Naturalist Association STIPA Jumilla, as reported in a statement.

So last Sunday, members of this association stocked with seeds of oak "Quercus rotundifolia" a stand in the shadow of Mount St. Anne With the crop, "it is intended that the oaks are developed under the large specimens of pine, to reach to be in the future a mixed forest, seeing the mountain biodiversity benefit and become more natural value "target.

They are also carrying out a nest box workshop with the collaboration of IES Infanta Elena and Archbishop Lozano.

Students of both institutes of technology in the coming weeks will build a nest boxes for forest insectivorous birds.

The objective of this workshop is to "provide breeding grounds for these birds as beneficial to maintain a balance of insect pests affecting forests."

Furthermore, with this activity "is intended to create environmental awareness among young people and contribute to environmental protection."

The boxes are preferably constructed of salvaged wood, and placed in the pine forests of the mountain of Santa Ana by the students, identifying each nest with a tracking number for your later years.
