Vico Theatre reopens its doors after a thorough restoration by 1% cultural (04/03/2011)

The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar and the Mayor of Jumilla, Francisco Abellán, have reopened this morning the doors of the iconic local theater Vico, having completed the rehabilitation of the building.

The work has mainly consisted of replacing the old roof, restoration of the ceiling painting, removing dampness and cracks, and the improvement of the stalls.

Including works carried out on the deck have included performances on the cover of the nave (with new trusses and half-timbered), aisles (new version), the waterproofing of flat terraces and replacement of skylights.

Tovar Gonzalez stressed that the Government of Spain through the figure of 1% cultural, "is to fully support the conservation of cultural property in our region and is contributing more than ever to restore important elements of our heritage, such as Vico theater, so loved by the vainly Jumillano not declared of Cultural Interest.
