Campos highlighted the "strength and ability to revive" the citizens of Lorca after the earthquakes (23/07/2011)

The presidential advisor, Manuel Campos, highlighted the "courage and steadfastness of the citizens of Lorca to rise from the grave consequences that resulted in the tragic earthquake on May 11."

"The effort and the courage of Lorca was imposed on the immense pain and despair that stunned at first to the municipality, which has managed to overcome the most critical moments of an incident involving exemplary courage," praised the Minister during the ceremony of Jumilla Seven Day Awards 2011, which delivered a special mention to the city of Lorca for their exemplary behavior following earthquakes.

Campos said the "relentless and unending struggle Lorca have shown to this sad event we have to further compromise on all authorities with the recovery of the city, the sooner you restore the foundations of its economic structure, business and property ".

The title of president presented the award said his hometown is a "great honor because it makes Lorca a symbol of overcoming adverse circumstances to those of last May," adding that likewise, this award recognizes the substantial assistance "coming from all municipalities in the region and Spain, turned to provide material resources, food and blankets to the residents of Lorca."

Also, the Minister acknowledged "the excellent work they have done and continue to make professionals of all law enforcement and emergency and groups who, selflessly, working with the city to overcome this tragedy."

Awards

In addition to the special mention of the town of Lorca, the weekly Siete Dias honored with the Special Award 2011 at the Easter Jumilla, which more than 600 years of history, is one of the most important cultural events in the municipality and in the region and also with the recognition of National Tourist Interest.

Moreover, the writer Ana María Olivares Thomas was honored as Best Cultural Labor for its extensive and successful career as a linguist and columnist in various media.

In education, the Learning Centre Stone Cross, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary since its opening, received the award for Best Work Education, recognizing his work in this area with the organization of innovative activities and his involvement with traditions of Jumilla.

Among the winners of this year, is the Nursing Home Santa Teresa Jornet in the category for Best Social Work, for her dedication and work with older people during its 125 year history, and Professor of International Law Public and International Relations at the Complutense University of Madrid, Carcelén Martín Ortega, Ambassador of Jumilla.

In this edition, presented the award for Best Sports siblings Labor and Jose Bernabeu Vicente Lozano, who have dedicated their lives to sports in different disciplines.

Seven Day Awards Jumilla, consolidated at the regional level, recognize the work and history of people born in this town and entities that have focused all their efforts into projects in the social, business, culture and sports.
