2.8 million for a wastewater reuse in Jumilla (18/11/2011)

The Governing Council has approved the granting of aid to the Community of Irrigators 'Miraflores' Jumilla for the development of a proposed use of reclaimed wastewater from the treatment plant in this town.

The objective of this initiative, which is an example of efficiency in water use, is to ensure the continuity of their communal farming and ensure the availability of water resources.

This aid, amounting to a maximum of 2.8 million euros, will be financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) by 47 percent, while the community contributes 28 percent and the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine 25 percent.

This investment will act on a surface of 1,329 hectares by 75 percent to stone fruit crops such as pear, peach, apricot and plum and to a lesser extent, vineyards, olive and almond trees.

The project includes the construction of a distribution center for the derivation of the transport of treated wastewater into the area of ​​Fuente del Pino by an underground construction where they will receive from driving the pump.

Also build a regulating reservoir capacity 20,000 cubic meters of water from the Sewage Treatment Station and necessary water pipes to the reservoirs and Fuente del Pino Escarabajal Jumilla.

The number of beneficiaries will be of 971 villagers who cultivate about 1,700 plots.
