Jumilla have a Wine Interpretation Centre which will boost the local economy to complement its wine tourism (17/05/2012)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerda, attended today with the mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, president and Jumilla, Pedro Lencina, the presentation of the proposed rehabilitation of the old center of the municipality as plaiting Interpretation Centre and Museum Wine Jumilla.

The new museum will be built on four former manufacturing buildings esparto, including three townhouses (built in 1908) and isolated (1950), with a total area of ​​727 square meters.

The project budget is 754,000 euros and is host to European aid 'Leader' for the conservation and upgrading of rural heritage, the Rural Development Programme in the region, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will oversee and assist in the museum project of the new center.

The owner of Agriculture indicated that this new space "Jumilla aims to boost the local economy to complement its wine tourism".

He added that the Center "will be the reference potential of Jumilla wine and give added value to the image of the municipality as one of the main producing areas of Spain."

The ships will host a museum area dedicated primarily to the vine, another space for the processing of grapes and bottling, promotion and marketing as well as an area for wine tasting, meeting and tasting room.

The realization of this project will preserve this historic building to its importance Jumilla cultural, economic and tourist.

Its implementation as cultural facilities will further the revitalization of the neighborhood in which it is, the development of tourism in the area as part of the Wine Route and contributions to research and dissemination prohibited.

European initiative 'Leader'

The funds 'Leader' from the European Union have made it possible in the region of Murcia on the development and diversification of local economies.
