A goat cheese from the region was awarded the 'Food Awards to the best cheeses in Spain 2011', organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
Specifically, the award in the category of 'other cheese' went to one of the products prepared by the Central Jumilla Cheese Montesinos.
The awards were presented this week in Madrid by the minister, Miguel Arias Cañete.
Moreover, two cheeses of the region from companies specializing in making cheese from goat's milk pure Murcia, recently won top prizes in the course of 'X National Competition goat milk cheeses - Fuerteventura Tabefe Awards'.

Another cheese of the region, Murcia Curado DOP, of the dairy jumillana Montesinos reached the final of the category of cheeses, which accessed the top five ranked in the preliminary round.

It is a soft cheese and artichoke vegetable rennet developed in collaboration with the University of Murcia, noted for its creamy texture and delicate flavors dairy.
Meanwhile, Queserías Villavieja, won second prize in the category of 'cured pasteurized milk' with cheese 'Rosemary Goat'.
This cheese is easily identifiable by its coverage of rosemary, won first prize in this category in the previous edition of this event.
These awards provide recognition to the joint efforts of all the Murcian goat sector, both by farmers currently producing goat milk of excellent quality, as the cheese from Murcia, in its commitment to improving the quality and diversification of their products.

These awards are attached to those achieved this year by two goat and one sheep from the Region of Murcia, honored with two silver medals and a bronze respectively in the World Championship Cheese Contest contest, held in the U.S. state Wisconsin.
These are the cheeses 'Delights Natural Goat Nóbregas Ana Maria', 'Delights Green Peppercorn Goat Nóbregas Ana Maria' and 'Sheep Cane Montesinos', prepared by the Central jumillana Cheese Company Montesinos, who competed with 2,504 samples of cheese made in 24 countries.
Last year, the cheeses of the region were awarded in international competitions Word Cheese Awards 2011 and the DLG-Prämierung 2011 from Germany, where important distinctions were awarded.
In addition, the 'Food Awards to the best cheeses Spain 2010', recognized as 'Best Cheese' to a Murcian goat cheese.
The prestigious international contest Word Cheese Awards cheese ratified two silver medals with the quality of the cheeses 'Murcia al Vino OJ' by SL Power dairies Palancares Central Bullas and Jumilla Cheese Montesinos SL.

Leading exporters of goat cheese
The region of Murcia stands as the largest exporter of goat cheese, and is second in exports of other cheeses.
As stated in the last Annual Cheese of Murcia in the domestic market has seen a slight increase in consumption, especially in the region.
The Community recorded in 2011 a total of 177 goat herds assigned to the Control Board, which encompass about 63,000 adult goats.
The annual production amounts to 3.1 million liters of milk for processing.
As regards the production of cheese covered with quality figures, in 2011 reached 342,770 kilos of cheese Murcia wine and 49,887 kilos of cheese Murcia cured.
