A group of students from IES Infanta Elena de Jumilla won the European competition 'Euroscola' (19/06/2012)

Young people have reflected on intergenerational solidarity and the opportunities offered by European educational exchange programs targeting youth

A team of ten students of Secondary School Infanta Elena de Jumilla has been one of the ten group winners in the eighteenth edition of the national contest 'Euroscola', which is reflected on the solidarity between generations and academic mobility of young people.

The director general of the Gender Violence Prevention, Youth, and Reform Legal Protection of Minors, Veronica Lopez, today presented awards to the winning students in virtual event, which this year has had the participation of 43 teams in the Region Murcia.

The director general said 'Euroscola' is a competition 'online' that "tests the knowledge, skills, memory, speed and teamwork of students, through activities and interactive games and educational web site 'Euroscola' (www.euro-scola.com), in order to promote the use of Internet as an educational tool, informative and communicative. "

Under the motto "Solidarity has no borders ', the central themes of this edition were intergenerational solidarity, the potential and vitality of the elderly, as this year marks the' European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity Intergenerational '.

The opportunities offered by European educational exchange programs aimed at young people and their teachers, and the importance of learning throughout life have also focused attention on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus program.

'Euroscola' is an initiative organized by the European Parliament Office in Spain, in collaboration with the European Commission representation in our country, through Injuve, and youth organizations from different communities and is aimed at young between 15 and 18 who are studying Secondary Education, Vocational School or Intermediate.

Awards

The winning team members of the Institute of Secondary Education Infanta Elena will travel to the French city of Strasbourg to participate in the program 'Euroscola' Parliament, and will receive financial assistance to cover travel expenses.

In addition to Murcia students will travel members of the ten winning teams belonging to Valencia, Navarra, Asturias, Madrid, Andalusia, Catalonia, the Canary Islands and La Rioja, and the winning team in the English category is Galicia.

Students received a certificate recognizing their participation in the competition, a lot of teaching materials and educational materials and volunteer kit.

They will also have the opportunity to participate in a workshop on volunteerism and first aid courses in different aspects.

Regional Winners

The other four regional teams who have been finalists in the eighteenth edition of 'Euroscola' belong to the Secondary School 'Salvador Sandoval', Las Torres de Cotillas, Secondary School José Ibáñez Martín, Lorca, and Secondary School Infanta Elena of Jumilla.

All have received a certificate attesting to their participation in the program.
