Last June, the jumillana Susan Thomas, was the student chosen to participate representing Murcia in the V World Heritage Youth Forum.
For 10 days, 34 students from Azerbaijan, Croatia, Ecuador, Slovenia, Morocco, Mexico, Paraguay, Dominican Republic and communities of Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Baleares, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Canarias, Extremadura, La Rioja, Madrid, Murcia and Valencia, plus the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, visited historic cities of Alcalá de Henares, Aranjuez, Madrid, Lorca, Granada and Elche in order to experience heritage, take responsibility for their conservation and recognize it as the basis of identity and development engine.
The mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, together with the Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Maria Dolores Fernandez, met with the girl to exchange ideas about teaching forum and it has left in it.
As highlighted by Susana Tomás itself has been "amazing experience, he would love to repeat" and adds, it is "the exchange of cultures I've experienced with peers from around the world."
Although attend again as a student is no longer possible, the mayor has been the ability to intercede because Susana may in the future participate as an instructor at the next World Heritage Youth Forum.
The Forum is organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and aims to motivate young people in knowledge Heritage.
In this program, recognized by UNESCO, they accommodate meetings, forums, workshops, exhibitions, participation in fairs and generation of multimedia materials, among other activities, all designed to add value to the heritage and seat it as part of the history between the youngest.
