As every year, the Murcia Celiac Association organized this weekend for their annual coexistence, and Jumilla was on this occasion, the city chosen for the meeting.
About 200 celiac across the region came together yesterday in the town to pool their experience with the disease and enjoy a morning of leisure and tourism, which ended with a meal specially prepared for celiac, which were present Seve regional deputy González, Councillor for Citizen Participation, Antonio Valero, Councillor for Health and Almudena Martinez.
Enrique Jimenez, Mayor of Jumilla, welcomed the expedition at the Teatro Vico, where they were invited to enjoy the virtues of the earth, including wine, suitable for coeliacs, and one of the hallmarks of the municipality.
Also wanted to influence the mayor, the need to keep fighting to raise awareness of the disease to society and work to establish a link between associations, admiration and businesses to further improve the quality of life of the person suffering from gluten intolerance.
For his part, President of the Association, Ramon Navarro, pointed to the need for social awareness towards normalization of this disease.
He also proposed initiatives to this end, as a Top Road for celiacs, a good idea for other restaurants overcome the fear of gluten-free work.
"In the retreats, we know different parts of the Region, and the people of the towns we visited known for his part, disease, and assimilate that exist as a part of society," said the president.
After the welcome, visitors were divided into two groups to visit on a rotating basis the Museum of Ethnography and Natural Sciences Jerónimo Molina, and the winery Silvano Garcia, among other parts of the town.
The visit ended with a special meal without gluten, with gluten-free food tasting and playgrounds for children.
