The CEIP Carmen Conde, selected to implement the pilot program of English immersion Child (29/10/2013)

The Director General of Educational Planning and Attention to Diversity, Begoña Iniesta, together with center directors and Council of Education of the municipalities where the program will be taught, including Ramiro Garcia Cerezo, Head of Education in Jumilla, presented yesterday at the Ministry of Education, the experimental program of English immersion for kids, in which the school participate Carmen Conde de Jumilla.

The Ministry of Education, Universities and Employment has selected six schools in the region for the implementation of language immersion pilot program in English Education.

The work done in these centers Eagles, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cartagena, Molina de Segura, Murcia, Jumilla, serve to develop the commitment of the Ministry to extend bilingual education at all levels and in all public schools the region in the next five years.

The Director General of Educational Planning and Attention to Diversity, Begoña Iniesta said that "the study of English in the second cycle of primary education will undoubtedly help to promote bilingualism in the region and will, surely, to lay the basis for enhancing the English language proficiency by students of the Community, given the ease of learning a language with children as young ".

This immersion will take place during a daily session of one hour in which the English teacher used exclusively specialist foreign language to communicate with students.

This approach to the use of English oral communicative activities consist of related routines and common situations in the classroom and the world of children, addressing the contents thereof through global activities that have interest and meaning for children.

In addition, the language assistant assigned to the center for Primary dedicate a weekly session to the target group of this program of Children.

The program's objectives are to improve the learning and acquisition of skills in English listening comprehension, develop content in formal, informal and non-formal, promoting linguistic communication, and expand communication skills in different languages ​​and forms of expression students.

Furthermore, this initiative aims to facilitate the transition between kindergarten and the program Murcia Bilingual Schools Elementary Education, and reinforces the sense of European identity, fostering positive attitudes towards learning foreign language and culture.

Among the challenges of the Ministry of Education, Universities and Employment for this course is the setting up of a regional strategy of Multilingualism in collaboration with the entire school community.

One measure is the experimental program and created a working group with the unions in the Education Sector Board for this purpose.
