Jumilla School participate in the campaign 'Alcohol: Awareness with science' (05/11/2013)

Representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Policy and the Education, Training and Employment, along with councilors gathered at the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca to continue spreading the campaign 'Alcohol: Awareness with science' about 4,000 School of Health Area I-Murcia West, V-Altiplano and IX-Vega Media of the Segura.

On this day 20 health professionals attended primary care centers, 62 schools and local technicians responsible for municipal planning drug prevention of the towns included in these three areas of Health, Regional Health Map: Murcia, Sewer, Alhama of Murcia, Librilla, Mula, Pliego, Yecla, Jumilla, Cieza, Abarán and Blanca.

The CEO of Citizen and Drug Addiction, Juan Manuel Ruiz, and the Director General of Educational Planning and Attention to Diversity, Begoña Iniesta, who participated in the event stressed the importance of joint efforts between the health system, educational and local entities to avoid drinking alcohol.

The objective of this activity, part of the ARGOS-Murcia Program, is to raise more than 15,000 adolescents in the region and of 1 year of Secondary Education (ESO) on the effects of alcohol consumption on physical health, mental and social.

Ruiz said "do school early intervention with 12 years to anticipate the average age of onset, located according to the latest Survey on Drug Use in Secondary Education Estudes in 13.81 years."

So he said, "we work on risk factors promoting the use of alcohol facilitating healthy attitudes that avoid early contact with alcoholic beverages."

Meanwhile, Iniesta stressed that "the educational work of the program has invaluable when you consider that the student's training goes beyond the school, beyond his tutors, counselors or teachers of services to the community."

'Alcohol: Awareness with science'

The campaign 'Alcohol: Awareness with science', established in the Health Areas II-Cartagena-Vega Media VI and VIII-Mar Menor, continues the roadmap scheduled for implementation during the 2013-2014 year, so today will add another 4,000 students and over 2014, also will be extended to Health Area III-Lorca, IV-VII-Murcia Northwest and East.

This campaign is vertebrate in two phases.

The first one, called 'circuit to users' Health Centers, consists of a traveling exhibition of eight posters that installs a few weeks in the Health Centers Program attached to Argos.

In the second, called 'circuit for adolescents' health centers work together and coordinated by ESO Local Plans in Drug Addiction Prevention of municipalities to perform three instructional units.

Thus, students visit the Health Center and healthcare reference and guidance information transmission lead.

Both CEOs concluded that investing in prevention of alcohol and other drugs at an early age of having citizens responsible with your health and better able to analyze how certain practices may adversely affect their health and their environment.

From City of Jumilla have taken steps to coordinate this program in the city, so soon will be announced the implementation dates of the same, in different HEIs involved in the project.
