The association organizes 4 Legs II week by Animal Rights (27/11/2013)

The councilor in charge of the municipal animal shelter Jumilla, Almudena Martinez, the president of the association 4 feet, Irene Santos, and voluntary organization, Santa Lozano, presented yesterday by the Second Week Animal Rights to be held 10 to 15 December.

The president of the association said that the meaning of this week is education, awareness and advocacy, conducting activities for all sectors of the population.

Thus, the activities pluck Tuesday 10th December at the Market with an information campaign in the morning, while the afternoon at 19 pm in the Sociocultural Roque Baños Centre, is a manifesto read and screened the children's movie "Balto".

Also on Wednesday afternoon he held a children's creative workshop, aimed at children aged between four and fourteen years, there will be puppets, storytelling, crafts, and so on.

The workshop has a symbolic price of three euros to purchase the item and will be held in the children's library.

New this year, the association has organized for Thursday afternoon a performance at different points in the city to show some cases of ill-treatment of animals.

Similarly, for Thursday is scheduled to charity dinner to be held at the St. Augustine restaurant and for which this year will feature performances of blues and jazz musician, Johnny Sax.

The cover charge is 23 euros.

Finally, Sunday will be held on Canicross Popular Run with your dog and the charity market.

Holy Lozano explained that this year, as new, has established three categories: child (one kilometer), amateur (three kilometers) and sports (seven and a half).

Yet another new look in this edition is that the sporting event will run in part by land areas, not only asphalt track, and there will be prizes for the three categories and also for local athletes, registration with five euros.

Also, members of 4 feet thanked all businesses, groups, individuals and media who have collaborated with the organization as well as the City of Jumilla, and encouraged all to participate in jumillanos different activities.

In addition, the president used the occasion to announce that the Ministry of Agriculture has just sent the animal associations of Murcia the draft bill to amend the Animal Protection Law of the Region, which are very positive from Jumillano organization.

"It's an old claim of any association that since 1990, there has been amended, being one of the oldest in Spain, and then we are happy because they have to work on that law. We are now engaged in the process of claims for our contributions to defend as much as possible the rights of animals in the region of Murcia and is equated to others who are much more updated and advanced to the times, "he concluded.

Meanwhile, the council noted the commendable work that this organization does, and their dedication year after year.

"They make it a social work for the benefit of everyone, always raising awareness about the care and respect that must be taken with the animals, a task that is neither paid nor grateful," he added.
