IU-Green explains the facts about scholarships in Murcia (18/06/2014)

They believe that since the Concierge of Education does not have realistic information on scholarships, such as the tightening of the requirements for access to them and the many families who meet and can not obtain.

In this call excludes much of families, dramatically reducing the income thresholds for entitlement to receive aid to families in great need.

For a family of four that charges € 645 SMI (minimum wage) has no right to grant is given.

From IU-Greens criticize harshly a family should be practically "starving" to apply to a minimum cover part of textbook scholarship.

Further notes that the budget may rise only meet the needs of some 1,000 families, while more than 50,000 covering the conditions for receiving aid, may not obtain for lack of funds.

IU-Greens denounced the manipulation of the data provided by the Secretary General of Education Concierge Murcia, Manuel Marcos, as is so there will be a new social cuts of the Ministry of Education.

They say that since 2010, aid for books has been reduced by 83.7%, to limits that do not even cover the most basic needs of a community with high unemployment.

The brutal reduction of more than 37% of the final budget, coupled with the sharp decline threshold to apply for a grant request for next year, is unsustainable for the educational quality of our public education measure.

IU-Green believes that the decisions of the Director of Education, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, moving in the direction of dismantling public education.

They criticize the regional government is attacking equal opportunities in our education system and thereby being in breach of the right to education a growing part of the population that coincides with the one that is hardest to suffer from the adjustment policies and deregulation picture.

Many will lament that students that during the next school year will attend schools deprived of access to textbooks, despite the efforts of families and teachers to create banks of books and school supplies.

Finalize a table showing the huge reduction observed in low income required to apply for a grant, from 22,579 per year in a family of 4 in 2013, just 8,900 in 2014.
