The Association of Moors and Christians D. Pedro I held during the Fair and Festivals in August, its Moors and Christians, and to signal the start of the holiday, Castillo waving flags since Saturday, after the handover Mayor to the warden, signaling the start of the Moors and Christians in the town.
So, on Saturday, at the Castle of Jumilla, took place, "Night of the Torches and Flags Hoisted" in a symbolic act, in which the handover of the city was staged by the Mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, the festive alcaidesa del Castillo, Maria Gonzalez.
The event was completed with the hoisting of flags, that during the ten-day fair, flown in Castillo, a sign that Jumilla celebrates its Moors and Christians.
The taking of the castle with torches could not be performed because of the high risk of fire declared in the highlands, so in order to preserve the enclave torches marched through the ascent to the fort without fire.
Following the flag raising, the Moors and Christians dance, took the courtyard of the castle, where he spent the ceremony, which ended with a wine reception for over one hundred attendees who enjoyed the act.
