The Department of Health reminded that in the fight against HIV the best measure is prevention (01/12/2014)

In the region, according to the latest provisional data from the Information System for newly diagnosed HIV infection during the period 2009-2013 533 new cases were reported, of which 87 were reported during 2013. This figure represents three percent of state total and represents a decrease compared to 2012, the year in which 96 new cases were reported.

The incidence of new HIV diagnoses in the region last year was 59.1 cases per million population, compared to 70.4 cases per million population in Spain.

In addition, regional data demonstrate an improvement over 2012, when the rate of new diagnoses was 65.1 cases per million inhabitants.

The profile of new HIV diagnoses responds, in most cases, a man with a median age of 36 years, the main route of transmission sex in 88 percent of cases.

51 percent of the cases in the Regional Information System, from 2009-2012, had a late diagnosis of infection and 35 percent, ie 94, were at an advanced stage, and most were already cases Sida.

Activities

This year the campaign in Jumilla will focus on the delivery of information material in the Plaza del Rey Don Pedro, on Monday from 12.00 to 14.00.
