The social and cultural life of the Jumilla of the last century, enhancement through the photographs of José Antonio Tomás (13/01/2015)

More than thirty Photography, exposed these days at the Museum of Ethnography and Natural Sciences Jerónimo Molina, as witness the social and cultural life of the Jumilla last century.

Traditions, crafts, cultural sites and the development of a whole society gathered by the objective Jumillano José Antonio Tomás, a year after his donation to the city of his collection of photographs, hangs up the walls of the Museum new unpublished images with which popular culture city recovers.

The mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, the Councillor for Culture, María Dolores Fernández, and the director of the Museum, Cayetano Herrero, were responsible for opening the exhibition, which was attended of José Antonio Tomás, who wanted thank the Municipality interest rescue part of his work for this exhibition.

The mayor of Jumilla, noted for his part, invaluable as an ethnographic document of each of the photographs, as well as quality and sensitivity that the author plasma on each job.

"These photographs have a treasure, thanks to the generosity of José Antonio and his family, who have donated an important historical document for city priceless".

Councillor for Culture María Dolores Fernández, thanked for their part, "the effort and meticulous work of selection of photographs, from which the employment workshop students have been charged under the supervision of the director of the Museum, Cayetano Herrero".

A year ago donating the entire background of photos of José Antonio Tomás was formalized, and that reason a first exhibition was inaugurated with over thirty snapshots that are already part of the Chamber of Crafts permanently at the Museum Ethnography.

To mark this anniversary, the students Employment Workshop, reviewed nearly 33,200 negatives, 998 reels, Selection 33 photographs that have been revealed for this new exhibition.

The exhibition will be open until next January 30 in the Multipurpose Room of the Museum of Ethnography and Natural Sciences Jerónimo Molina.

In addition, Facebook the City of Jumilla, part of the exhibition is collected in an online tour of some of the snapshots that make up the sample.
