The director of the Archaeological Museum of Murcia started the lecture series with a lecture on "Regional Museums Policy" (06/02/2015)

The Department of Culture started yesterday, a series of conferences dedicated to the Museums of the Region of Murcia, which will take place every Thursday from February to 4 March, which began last night with the presentation by Manuel Lettuce Galindo, director of the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, on managing "Regional Museums Policy".

In principle the conference would be conducted by the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, that last minute problems could not be in Jumilla to inaugurate the cycle.

In the presentation, Manuel Lechuga was accompanied by the director of the Archaeological Museum of Jumilla, Emiliano Hernandez, and the Head of Culture Department, Andrés Martínez.

According to Andrés Martínez said in his presentation of the cycle, "the importance of this conference in Jumilla, are justified by the great importance of its archaeological museums of Natural Sciences and Ethnography, in order to see first hand, the opinion of various researchers and directors of other museums that will appear throughout the conference, and in which we definitely will highlight not only those aspects that refer to the direction and policies of museums, but I am sure that regard fieldwork, in order to provide a general and complete view of the practices, customs and other physical and geographic components in our culture holds ".

During the conference, Manuel Lechuga said some legal parameters that constitute museums, such as the distribution powers, legislative development and the legal and regulatory framework to the Service of Museums and Exhibitions in 2005 is created, time after which professionalized management.

Moreover, highlighted the objectives of the network of museums in the region, including museums make a uniform policy according to the needs of society, maintain minimum quality requirements in the museum centers, favoring the improvement of facilities and equipment, or coordinate activities where there are common goals related to the distribution and enjoyment of cultural and museum heritage.

Also during the presentation quality criteria to be met to be part of the Regional Museums System, requirements that meet both Jumilla explained, such as a stable public visitation schedule, a collection sufficient and appropriate to the scope and objectives of museum or accessible funds for research, teaching, outreach and public enjoyment.

The presentation ended with a graphic tour of some of the most significant museums in the region, among which are included the Jerónimo Molina de Jumilla, in two sections, Archaeological and Ethnographic and Natural Sciences.

Next Thursday, February 19, at 20.00 in the Cultural Hall Cajamurcia, will be the next conference will be devoted to ethnographic museums, and will be led by the Director of Museo de la Huerta Sewer, Angel Luis Riquelme Manzanera.
