The Mayor and the Director General of Rural Development inaugurated the day of awareness about rural organized by UPA (10/02/2015)

The Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers, UPA, organized for this morning in the IES Archbishop Lozano, an Interactive Day dedicated to "Awareness on Agriculture and Rural environmentally responsible" in order to raise awareness and generate currents of positive opinion among the youngest of the town, on the importance of agricultural and livestock tissue facing the social development of Jumilla.

The Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, Julio Bernal, and the Mayor of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez, were responsible for opening the conference, highlighting both the importance of such initiatives for the enhancement a backbone sector such as rural areas.

According highlighted the CEO Julio Bernal, "through this conference the influence agriculture to society will be addressed, and an attempt to awaken your interest as important to the region as agriculture activity."

Project Objectives

The project is financed with the aid of Focus Leader, and will consist of conducting awareness campaigns aimed at school by conducting a conference of several days' duration in Secondary Schools, particularly in the towns of Jumilla and Yecla.

During the conduct of the conference several speakers inform and concienciarán younger, natural and environmental values, stressing the benefits it can bring for the future, develop agriculture GFP and the conservation and protection of the rural environment .

Project development is well complemented by the presentations, with a field trip and visit to a farm, for each of the groups of students, ending with the preparation and delivery of a job, and subsequent exposure.

The most outstanding works will be recognized with an award.

On the Day today have intervened besides the CEO of Irrigation and Rural Development and the Mayor of Jumilla, the manager of the Local Action Group ADC NORDESTE, St. Francis and the director of IES Archbishop Lozano de Jumilla, Pascual Hernández.
